Stolen Water Pump - Getting back to Las Tuna after being away for a month, found our water pump attached to a black wood box had been disconnected from our water pipes outside of our casa. The thief was kind enough to put a rag in the pipe so that our tonaka didn't empty completely. Just a reminder that everything needs to be securely protected. - Denise Steffenhagen, cmyviews (-at-), 613-108-5336, Todos Santos

Tides - This tide service lets you pick the area you want reported. On the East Cape I use LaPaz, and it is only off about 10 min. A free program though they do ask for donations. - Don Ballentine, papabear (-at-), 206-973-3252, San Jose Del Cabo

Re Tide Tables - We like these CICESE tide tables - they are graphic and easy to read. Add 30 mins to Cabo for Todos Santos - Rob Atkinson, wahoo123 (-at-),, 612-111-5121, Baja California Sur

Miguel performed his first solo concert when he was sixteen years old. He studied guitar with Maestro Severo Barrera during the time he was accompanying Mimus Teatro, a professional pantomime group of Monterrey. His multi-faceted career includes being musical director and general director of several musicals in Monterrey.

He has had success teaming with his brother, Carlos, also accomplished guitarist. Miguel was a member of a concert group, La Guitarra Por El Mundo traveling throughout Mexico and Europe on a cultural exchange program. In Romania alone, the group performed 14 concerts in 24 days.

Miguel has performed for Nobel Laureate for Literature, Octavio Paz, also Diana Laura de Colosio and other distinguished Mexican citizens including Ambassadors, Governors and Mayors. Miguel recently produced a solo audio cassette titled "Interludio" and a CD, "Sevilla Suite" . The CDs title songs are his own compositions and all of his works are original arrangements.

About Alex DePue Alex began taking classical violin lessons at age five. He won his first major competition at age 10, and later (age 16) won a competition that entitled him to perform at Carnegie Hall with the National Guild Youth Orchestra under the direction of Joseph Silverstein. He has continued to win competitions and appear as a guest soloist with orchestras and at festivals worldwide.

Despite his classical training, Alex became interested in fiddling at age seven, and began competing in old-time fiddle contests at the age of 12. He reigned as the Michigan State Fiddling Champion from 1994-1998; won the first-place trophy at the Walnut Valley National Fiddling Championship in Winfield, Kansas in 1999 and 2005; won first place in the Halletsville, TX “Gone to Texas National Fiddling Championship” in 2000; won first place in the Alabama state fiddle contest in 2006 and 2007; and won first place in the California state fiddle contest in 2007.

He has been ranked among the top 10 fiddlers in the nation at the Grand Masters Fiddling Championship (Nashville, TN). In 2005, Alex placed fourth at the GMFC. Alex served as a judge at the National Oldtime Fiddling Championship (Weiser, ID) in 2008. Alex toured with Capitol Recording artist Chris Cagle from 2000-2006, with whom he regularly appeared on the Grand Ole Opry, Country Music Television, Great American Country, and VH1 Country. Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine - Chinese Medicine is a unique system of holistic health care because it considers all aspects of the patient's well-being. I work collaboratively with you to restore and maintain balance so that your body can respond effectively with its own natural healing mechanisms.

What does it feel like? Acupuncture needles are very thin, about the thickness of 2 hairs; and I practice a gentle form of insertion which most people report is completely painless. During a treatment, different sensations may be felt such as warmth, tingling, heaviness or pressure. If you have a strong aversion to needles, there are a number of other modalities that we can use to move energy in the meridians: cupping, moxabustion, and ear seeds among others. Please call to discuss the possibilities in detail or to ask questions. - Jane Sipe, L. Ac., jasi57 (-at-), 145-0110 or 612-151-7026, Todos Santos
