2nd meeting ASUPMATOMA A.C. Community turtle group, Wednesday, September 27th, 7:00pm, Surf Shop calle Rangel y Degollado near Miguel's restaurant.

Thanks to all who came to the first meeting on September 13th. Lots of issues were discussed including how to stop local consumption of turtle meat and eggs. We now have volunteers going out 5 nights a week with turtle biologist, Sinuhe on patrols to collect eggs from nesting olive ridley females. More volunteers are needed to complete the week's schedule. Don't miss this once in a lifetime important conservation experience.

We will have a table and a video monitor showing local turtle efforts at the Todos Santos Festival, 12th, 13th and 14th of October and hope to get the turtle costume from Grupo Tortuguero/Pro Peninsula. We also have materials, prizes and T-shirts for sale. Volunteers are needed to cover 4 hour shifts. Contact coordinator Patricia Baum or come to our next meeting. 612.145.0882 or email mailto:teampaty1 (-at-)

RE: Rumors of Carjackings near Catavina - Highway 1 is regularly patrolled by the Green Angels who provide service and assistance to stranded motorists. The Green Angels are a part of the Dept. of Tourism and there is no charge for their service, parts or labor. There is no need to stop for others' breakdowns, let the Green Trucks handle the problem. - Paul Shortell

(Paul, thanks for the reminder! - Alan)
